If there was one way to describe Ella Noelle Boone, it’d be that she’s a runner. It was no secret to anyone who knew her why she took off in the first place, considering how her home life had been less than ideal. Being raised on the wrong side of the tracks with no father and only a drunk mother wasn’t necessarily the life Ella would’ve chosen. They’d never had much money and she’d practically had to raise herself ever since before she could remember. The rare moments when her mother was sober were the silver linings Ella could hardly ever look forward to. It was the only time she saw even an inkling of the type of mother she wished she had. But those periods of time never lasted very long, unfortunately. The lack of parenting should have affected Ella in a way most couldn’t recover from. A lot of the people she knew and called her friends were in and out of rehab and prison because they hadn’t had a solid role model in their lives. Sure, Ella’s got a few misdemeanors on her record as well, but her life was hardly the trainwreck theirs was. She’d never wanted to end up like her mother and she’d sworn to do all she could to make sure that didn’t happen. As soon as she could drive, she took off, never looking back. Not a single sliver of regret or remorse to alter her decision.
Nothing gold can stay
Forming relationships has always been a problem for Ella. It’s always the fallout that terrifies her, causing her to end them before they can start. Besides, moving from place to place every few months hardly gives anyone any real time to get to know people and eventually decided they’re worth your time. However, there’s nearly always at least one person that stands out of a crowd of strangers and catches your attention, making it painful to tear yourself away when it’s your time to move on. It happened so quickly that Ella hadn’t even realized there’d been anything between them until he’d kissed her. She got that butterfly feeling in her stomach and she could feel her face turn bright red. It’d been that way between her and Aaron from the beginning. Just the sight of him would sent a warm shiver down her back and his proximity set her nerves on end. She’d been so happy when she was with him that her world came to a violently abrupt stop the day she heard the news. His smiling face was mocking her on the television screen, the news anchor’s every word like a stab in the chest. They said it was a tragic fall that ended his life and she knew it’d been her fault. He’d told her he’d be waiting on their cliff. He’d told her he’d wait for her forever. But forever was cut short when he fell. She had to get away. She needed to escape the pain and agony she still felt. He’d been the one thing she’d been missing, but losing him tore an even larger hole in her chest, leaving her jagged and broken and bleeding.
Look a little bit longer for something I can't find,
Over her years as a traveler, she’s lived with so many different sorts of people that it’s quite impossible to surprise her anymore. She’s just been on her own for so long now that it’s she’s pretty much set the idea of settling down out of her mind with no hope of ever achieving that goal. If she were to travel from city to city, state to state with nothing but her duffle bag and her car, she’d be content at the least. Deep down she’s always wanted a family of her own, someone she could call hers, but she thought she’d given up on that hope when Aaron died. No one else made her feel the way he had and no one else ever could. She was destined for a life of one night stands, but if that was all she could get, she’d take it. Besides, no one ever reaches the end and says, ‘I wish I hadn’t fucked so much.’ However, college is the one thing she refuses to give up, no matter what obstacles she faces along the way. She’s determined to make it out alive and hopefully with promise..anything to prove to herself that she’s not the person she could have been if she’d never left her life before.
